UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS:

Our uniform requirements are in accordance with the IBJJF requirements and rules.

Please follow This Link to learn and understand the Uniform Requirements for our events.

_____________________

WEIGHT:

All competitors are required to be exactly on, or under, the weight limit of the division they are registered in, including the full uniform related to their bracket.

Weight-ins: The drop-down box represent the weight as a net with the appropriate Gi or No-Gi allowance included.

e.g. the 69kg Gi weight category means a combined net weight (INCLUDING GI AND BELT) of under 69kg. There is no extra weight allowance.

Warning: Competitors weighing-in, on competition day, over their bracket weight limit, will be automatically disqualified from the competition, with no option to compete or get refunded.

Missing weight affects our brackets and risks delaying our schedule. It is the responsibility of the competitor/parent to check the competitor list and ensure they're in the correct division prior to registrations deadline.

Registration details, including weight category, can be edited until the last day of registrations. Please make sure you are registered to the correct weight division.

Competitors competing in the Gi will be weighing in with their full uniform on (Gi, Belt and Rash Shirt for female competitors), so please not that your total weight includes the uniform. Also important to note that the schedule is dynamic and changes throughout the day, please check your times regularly to ensure that you do not miss your weigh in and get disqualified.

BRACKETS & DIVISIONS MERGE:

The BJJAO reserves the right to adjust registrations where appropriate - it is the policy of the BJJAO not to have categories with only one competitor. One competitor categories will be abandoned with the Master competitors being moved down in age to the first available weight category or even to an Adult category. Juveniles may be moved to Adult Categories. Kids will be moved up in age category, however will not be able to compete in Juvenile. The same too goes for a competitor in a single competitor category, they will be merged up in weight to the first available category. On rare occasions competitors who are matched may be merged up to match with a single competitor category.

However any competitor that the BJJAO is unable to be merged is eligible to receive a 100% refund (less fees) or credit for a future event.

_____________________

KIDS BRACKETS:

Competitors are initially grouped strictly by age. If there are not enough competitors of the same age, the competitor will be placed in a age division no greater than 1 year above their own. Divisions can vary based on attendance. For example, Age divisions can be grouped by 1 year: 2010-2011, 2011-2012, 2012-2013, etc.

Round Robin: kids brackets of 3 and 4 competitors will be set as a true Round Robin format. Brackets of 5 competitors or more will be split into 2 pools of round robin brackets and winners of each pool will verse each other for 1st and 2nd place.

Kids brackets of 2 competitors are of Best Of Three format, where the two competitors fight each other 2 or 3 times to decide the winner.

If there are not enough competitors of the same division, the competitor could be merged into another division, please refer to 'BRACKETS & DIVISIONS MERGE' for details.

Competitors may only receive their medals whilst standing on the podium with the other competitors who placed in their division. If a competitor does not do this they will not receive their medal at a later date and this action may also cause a disciplinary result, potentially banning a competitor from competing in other divisions at the same tournament due to bad sportsmanship. Competitors that are eligible for a gift, prize, or other awards must collect them on the day of the competition. If they are not collected on the day of the tournament, the competitor is forfeiting their right to all gifts, prizes, or other awards.

_____________________

Any competitor that decides to withdraw from the competition prior to the Last Registration deadline, may receive 50% of their fee refunded. Competitors seeking the 50% fee re-compensation must alert the event organisers by email addressed to [email protected]. There is no refund for any cancellation after the last day of registration. No entries will be transferred or credited. There are no refunds or credits for this event, no exceptions. You will not be entitled to a refund or credit, regardless of whether or not you participate. By paying for your registration you will be put into a bracket and be called to compete on the day of competition. You will lose your first match by disqualification if you do not show up for your match, do not make the minimum qualification for that bracket, or have an injury or other medical condition that will not allow you to compete. This also includes single fighter categories when you are unable to be merged into another division, or your opponent/s have withdrawn from your division. This also includes divisions where all other opponents withdraw, are disqualified or absent and only one competitor remains. In this instance, the single competitor will gain points to be recognised, as well as team points, and be awarded the Gold Medal on the podium, and declared the winner.

_____________________

DIVISION CHANGES:

Registrants and competitors can change their division manually by clicking the 'Edit' option in the event registration on their Smoothcomp profile page. This can and must be done before registrations close. Competitors who are from the same team that may be matched or merged, once registration has closed will not be eligible for a refund and will be unable to have their division changed. If competitors in this situation do not compete they will be disqualified and will not receive medals, ranking & team points as well as any gifts or awards associated with that division.
